New Label for Gourmet Food Business

Sorry, still trying to get in the habit of posting... I got two other people started blogging, but neglected my OWN!

One new blogger is my good friend Tracy Painter, near Jewel, Oregon, who shares wild game recipes with me, and is coordinator of the non-profit Oregon Bengal Cat Rescue. She's also done some recipe development for me, including our Huckleberry Salsa, now one of our best selling gourmet foods. We tweaked the recipe just a bit, to adapt to ingredients available from commercial wholesale grocery stores, but otherwise, it's a WINNER!

Tracy's blogs include STOP CAT PEE
and I LOVE MY BENGAL. Check them out, if you are so inclined. I think a blog on wild game cooking and recipes is in her future as well. And we are working on a project or two in this subject area, including Rattlesnake Recipes, still under construction, with a gourmet rattler recipe ebook coming SOON!

Today (yes I work on holidays! -- when you are self-employed, every day is about the same), I am updating a wholesale price list for our Gold Mountain line of products, and working on a label for the Anger Management Canary, a product in our Endangered Feces line, which is a sort of spoof on endangered species candy bars.

Sandy and I are making plans to attend PackExpo and ProcessExpo in Las Vegas in October, as those are the big equipment and supplier shows in the food processing industry. We got free tickets (normally $25 or $35, can't remember) by networking with a company that exhibits at the trade show. However, the cheapest hotel so far is $100, and not sure whether we will fly from Boise or Spokane, or drive.

Sandy is headed out a week from today, to start her fall sales trips across Idaho and eastern Washington. A very busy two months coming up. We are doing pretty well on inventory, BUT we are back-ordered on jalapeno catsup, and dealing with production issues with the filler we are using at the food processing kitchen in the Bonner Business Center at Sandpoint, Idaho.

Have a great week!

Howdy from the Land of Food Business Junkies!

Greetings from Orofino, Idaho!

My wife Sandy and I will be celebrating five years as gourmet food (processing) entrepreneurs in October, working from our home, while processing sauces, salsas and other products at a shared-used, public, commercial kitchen. We are excited to share our journey and hope to hear about yours, over the coming months and years. Check out our retail web site, which includes products from other Idaho specialty food-preneurs, at TASTES OF IDAHO. Look for Idaho Redneck and Gold Mountain brand products, which are two of our labels.
